Ready to take on the Trails & Ales tour? You’ve got your locations set, fueled up the car, and got your favorite go-to snacks for the trip…but do you have the right gear? Make sure you’re Trails & Ales prepared by reviewing this list. These items are tough enough for the woods, and nice enough for the taprooms.
Get the Basics
We’ll start off with the basics for any hike that also applies for any brewery. In other words, you’ll be dressed for success.
Off on the Right Foot
It’s important to have the right shoes that work for the outdoors and the taprooms. Here are some solid options to get you Trails & Ales prepared:
Columbia Men’s Newton Ridge Plus
This lightweight boot is waterproof and provides comfort for hours long hiking. The suede exterior also pairs well when strolling into a brewery.
Solomon XA Pro 3D
Waterproof trail running shoes that I have trusted for years. In fact, these shoes helped inspire the Trails & Ales tour! You can read more about them here.
Chaco Sandals
If you’re going to hike a trail with water, then be sure to pack these guys. They’re great for water hikes and in line for the breweries on the list.
Rock Your Socks Off
Darn Tough
Can’t emphasize these enough! Great socks with several designs and options.
Compression Socks – 3 Pack
These are great if you’re nursing an injury or prefer compression socks on your hike.
Smarty Pants
There are several pants and shorts options that make you Trails & Ales prepared. Here are a couple of options I’ve used for years that are great on the trails, yet nice enough for civilization.
Toad & Co.
These pants look great, and they have fantastic flexibility for hiking any trail. My personal favorite is their Mission Ridge pants.
Vuori
Looking for reliable shorts? Then check out the Banks Shorts! They’re fantastic for a great hike followed by some drinks. Plus, these shorts are quick drying and come in a variety of colors.
North Face
This may come as no surprise, and maybe a little stereotypical. That said, I still stand by my pair of North Face 5 pocket pants.
Trails & Ales Prepared: Add-Ons
Here are two more items that have helped me on every Trails & Ales adventure:
Goodr Sunglasses
Grab a great pair of shades! They’re not the only brand I wear on the trails, but they’re lightweight and affordable.
Coleman Cooler
I’m always packing a cooler, so I take some cans, bottles or growlers home with me.
